Restaurant Review: Vibing at The Rose Venice 🌹

Our trip to LA this summer was filled with delicious foodie destinations and restaurants. Sometimes, big name places like this are an absolute tourist trap. Low quality, poorly thrown together food, yet people will continue to go and spend money for the “experience.” Other times, they have the name for a reason. The Rose Venice absolutely falls into the latter category: excellent service, ambiance, and FOOD.

The Rose Venice aka Brunch Heaven

My partner and I decided to do brunch at the popular Rose Venice on one of the last days of our trip. We made reservations online, but were honestly still on the fence about it the morning of.

We had to wake up relatively early and make the trek out to the beach, which with traffic could be a bit of a hike. Thank the lord we weren’t able to cancel last minute, because this place was BOMB. Genuinely one of the best meals we had in LA.

Ignore my very sad nails and focus on this delicious cup of tea I had in hand 😂

The Experience:

We requested a table in the outdoor dining patio and the space was beautifully put together. As soon as our server saw us being seated, he hustled on over to turn on a heating fixture above the table. It was actually a bit of a chilly morning, so this small gesture was appreciated.

The service throughout was above and beyond- to the point we were asking our server if they were hiring! This was when we were still looking at apartments in LA, so it was a genuine inquiry. 😂 It truly seems like this company takes good care of their employees and the working hours are great as far as industry standards.

The menu also proudly displays that a 5% charge will be added to all checks to help cover the cost of health care benefits for their full-time employees (which can be removed by request). But as service industry people ourselves, we were happy to pay this small amount to support something as critical as health care.

Pro tip: If the service staff of an establishment is genuinely happy/personable/relaxed, you know that the company treats them well!

The Food:

Now onto the most important point, which is of course the FOOD. Anyone who knows me will tell you I base complete trips and vacations over which restaurants and desserts spots are in the area. 😏

We selected a few items to try off of their extensive brunch menu and ended up sharing everything. As you can tell by the pictures, it was all absolutely delicious!

Breakfast Sandwich (Red Pepper Jelly, Soft Scrambled Egg, Gruyere Cheese, Crispy Bacon) and a side of Curry Fries
flakey croissant with butter and jelly on the side, resting on a white dish atop a wooden table
Classic Croissant with housemade jam and butter
Breakfast wrap with yellow scrambled eggs and crispy potatoes inside and a plate of fries in the background
Breakfast Burrito: Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Jack Cheese, Salsa Roja, Crispy Potato

The best of the brunch (bunch)?

The best item we tried? That would have to be a tie between the classic breakfast sandwich and that gorgeous, flakey croissant!

Both were unbelievably simple, but perfectly crafted. Each bite just worked, in a way that didn’t need to be enhanced or overblown. The ambiance and service were also sublime, which I’m sure added to our overall enjoyment of the meal!

Overall Score:

⭐⭐⭐⭐ ½ (4.5/5 stars)

Had to dock half a star because we only have experienced brunch and it was a bit of a splurge! But for a treat yoself meal, it’s perfect. We will be back. 😎

The Rose Venice strongly recommends reservations and is available for delivery through the BBOT, UberEats, and Postmates apps. Proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID result (within 72 hours) is currently required for any guests 12+ to dine inside.
