Hotel Highlight: MGM Grand Las Vegas!

*Disclaimer: We visited the MGM Grand Las Vegas during May 2021, prior to mask and distancing mandates being lifted in the US. This is NOT a sponsored post, no items were gifted, and all opinions are my own.

Touchdown in Vegas!

Landing in Vegas always has some type of energy to it. No matter how exhausting a flight you just survived, you’ve made it! You only have to get about ten feet off the plane before you see the first flashing lights of video slot machines. 😂

Now, your stress levels at this moment will be determined by two factors: how well you prepped in advance for the flight and where you are headed now that you’ve landed! If you are set up at a quality hotel, it will be like a breath of fresh air when you arrive. No more chaos of the airport, just calm and quiet vibes in your room. 😎

Now a “quality” hotel doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be expensive! The MGM Grand Las Vegas is located right on the Strip and, depending on the dates, it’s possible to get a King Grand room for about $100 a night (INCLUDING the $39 resort fee)! It’s always good to start looking well in advance though. Prices tend to fluctuate based on availability, seasonally, and whether or not there are big events happening during your travel dates.

Why stay at the MGM Grand Las Vegas?

Two words: David. Copperfield.

Kidding. 😂 I do actually love magicians, but have no clue what kind of show David Copperfield is putting on lately. It just became an ongoing joke because the amount of times we saw ads and billboards for his show (featuring a massive T-Rex in the background??) was astronomical. So I guess…he’s doing a show…and makes a dinosaur appear with him onstage? Still unclear on that. 🤔

This was EVERYWHERE we went in Vegas 😂. T-Rex and UFO?? I mean I’m down, but why??

But, (in case that’s not your thing 😂) here are five other reasons to book a stay at the MGM Grand Las Vegas!

1. Cozy and Clean Suites

If you are planning to spend a lot of time running around on your trip, you may be thinking your room doesn’t have to be that nice. Which is true- if you aren’t spending much time in the room, don’t break the bank!

However, the MGM Grand King suite was perfect for our purposes. Spacious accommodations, comfy bed, solid couch and desk set-ups for getting work done, and a great view of planes taking off from our window. 👌

King bed was comfy as heck and the nightstands were a great size!

We barely spent time in this room, but it was such a relaxing space to come back to for showers and bedtime. There were also ample, well-placed outlets for easy recharging of our devices!

Pro Tip: When booking your room, request to be in the newly-renovated “Grand Tower.” Currently, these are the nicest suites in the hotel! And it never hurts to request a room on the highest floor they have available. I always love a nice view if they can swing it for the same price. 😇

2. Convenient Free Parking

I was quite happy to discover that the MGM Grand was equipped with a complimentary parking garage. Whether that was the case last time or not, I can’t remember, but it was an awesome perk to discover this time around!

This makes it quite an easy process to park your car. Pick a floor, use the elevators, and be at the front desk in less than five minutes. The added bonus of a parking garage is that your car is in shade the entire time and doesn’t get as hot during the day!

3. Excellent Staff Interactions

Thinking bout In N Out 🍔

We found the staff at the MGM Grand Las Vegas to be particularly exceptional. Everyone was pleasant and eager to help us, even while working through all the new COVID cleaning and safety procedures!

It’s important to remember how much more difficult everyone’s service industry jobs became overnight and how many just disappeared completely. This is especially true in a place like Las Vegas, where tourism makes up a MAJOR percentage of the city’s economy. Between November 2019 and November 2020, unemployment rates in Vegas skyrocketed by about 8%. We also saw a decrease of 21.4% jobs in specifically the Leisure and Hospitality industry over that same period of time. With all that in mind- I was especially surprised by how nice everyone was, the hotel guests and workers alike! Every person we encountered seemed friendly, warm, and happy to be out and about.

Pro Tip: Be super nice to the front desk clerks, concierges, and other service professionals. They are there to help you, and usually want to accommodate any reasonable request. Being a genuinely good person can get you more perks and upgrades than you might think 😎. Also- tip anyone that assists you, especially the housekeepers!

4. Epic Bathroom Lighting

Do you see this selfie?? Enough said 😂

Okay just glowing like an angel in this bathroom light 🔥

We worked all week to get pictures with light even half this good and could not replicate it! Basically, these mirrors are huge ring lights with that kickass soft lighting that makes everyone look insanely good. By far the best bathroom/lighting/mirror combo we came across this trip!

And while we are talking about the bathroom, the water pressure in the shower was also top notch. 👌

5. WET REPUBLIC Day Club & Lazy River Pool!

The pool situation at MGM Grand is one of the main reasons I wanted to come back to this property! Even with the current restrictions, it was still awesome. There are multiple pool bars/cafes open and the lazy river is operating as well 😎.

I absolutely loved the WET REPUBLIC Day Club when I visited it last! WET REPUBLIC is now back in full party force, but is typically only open Friday-Sunday (unless there is a holiday or fight weekend- in which case check for Thursday dates!). If you’re like me and love dancing and sunshine, the day clubs are where it’s at!

Added bonus: “Day Club” usually means bathing suit and coverup chic- aka “Devony doesn’t have to put together an outfit that matches.” If you’ve ever wondered why I rock dresses and bikinis so often, it’s because I don’t have to figure out how to match them. 😂

Not a bad spot to beat the heat this summer!

Pro tip: When we visited, there was a limited capacity of people being let into each pool area. I would advise arriving earlier in the day to secure a good spot with some shade or book tickets in advance for a WET REPUBLIC pool party!
